Around the Island

There is always something to discover on Martha’s Vineyard—whether you are drawn to art and music, food and wine, or the simple joy of a harbor stroll at sunset. Here are a few of the events happening around the island this season.

Getting There

Martha’s Vineyard is just seven miles off the coast of Massachusetts, but it feels a world away. Whether you arrive by sea or air, we are happy to assist you in making travel arrangements that are seamless and stress-free.

Arriving by Ferry

The most popular way to reach the island is by ferry. We recommend booking well in advance—especially during summer and holiday weekends—as reservations can fill quickly. The most direct service to Edgartown is via the Steamship Authority to Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs. We can arrange ground transportation from the ferry terminal to The Charlotte Inn.

Arriving by Air

Martha’s Vineyard Airport (MVY) welcomes seasonal direct flights from Boston, New York, Washington D.C., and beyond. Major carriers include Cape Air, JetBlue, American Airlines, and Delta (seasonally).

Private charters are also available from regional airports throughout New England. We are happy to arrange ground transportation from MVY to The Charlotte Inn (approx. 15 minutes).

While the island feels wonderfully removed from the everyday, getting around is refreshingly simple. Whether you’re headed to a quiet beach, a farmstand in West Tisbury, or a gallery in Oak Bluffs, there are several comfortable, scenic ways to explore.
